Below is a poem I have written a couple months ago. This poem is an Ode to sleep. My inspiration for this poem came from my admiration for dreams and rest. I really want the reader to understand what the topic of my poem is about rather than me just saying it, there for in my poem I do not mention sleep and dreams, I rather set the mood of dreaming and sleeping. I titled this poem Fantasies; the reason behind this is primarily because it better expresses the dream portion of the poem.
This next poem is one I wrote in my English class not even two weeks ago. My inspiration for this poem came from The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer. In the poem I describe a good father on a trip. I used rhyme as a major aspect of the poem to make it flow easier off the tongue and through the mind. I wanted to express that the father was a good dad, yet he panics just as much as every other father out there.
My third poem is called a found poem. I have taken a passage from the book, 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher and arranged the words from the passage into my own. In the book there is only one person during the passage, in my poem though I wanted to make it seem as though there were two, sad, and confused people. There is no dialogue so it was difficult to express the feelings of the characters though I think one can assume that they are uncomfortable by the given text. I formatted this poem in the style of the "Burnt" poem I read in Creative Writing class. This poem is structured into multiple stanzas with lines separate from the rest of the text. The lines that stand on there own, if read in proper order, will some up the story.
I really tried to use repetition in this poem to show that the female is exceptionally upset to the point she is at a loss for words.
I'm very proud of the way this poem turned out I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it.
